Be guided by your Cohort Host

Paz Pisarski @ The Community Collective

Hi, I’m Paz and I’ve dedicated my life to helping people build engaged communities. It's an honour to guide you through our cohort to ensure you gain value and build lasting connections.

Before co-founding The Community Collective, I managed Australia's largest founder community of 60,000+ people at Startup Victoria, grew RMIT Activator's entrepreneurial community from 500 to 5000+, automated 9 hours of manual onboarding tasks at Happy Spaces co-working and supported asylum seeker women to build their own businesses at not-for-profit SisterWorks.

Today I’m based in Torquay, Australia where I run the Community Cohort and compose relaxation music for meditation as Paz Sounds (my personal music brand).

This program is designed to fit in with those working full time. Cohort Workshops are scheduled in the early mornings and at lunchtime AEST Melbourne timezone to accommodate working hours. All online sessions are also recorded.

Remember: you'll gain value from the Cohort based on how much you put into it.

Nope! We welcome anyone building community from around the world to join us. We have Cohort Alumni who are based in Australia, New Zealand, Africa, England, India and Spain.

If you are based in another country and the timezones are unfriendly to attend the Cohort Workshops, we don't expect you to wake up at crazy hours of the night to join us live! You are welcome to watch all the recordings in your own time and ask questions in Slack when you need.

We accept those who are actively building or managing a community for a business or defined goal into the program.

We do also accept those who are on the cusp of launching a new community. For example you have 20 people keen to join your community and are about to host the first gathering.

We do not accept those who are not actively building or managing a community to ensure we are serving and connecting those who are at similar stages.

We do make exceptions for community builders who have just been made redundant from their role and are looking to upskill, join a community and find their next role.

You're a great fit for this program if you are:

  • Managing a community for a business / startup / not-for-profit
  • Building a new community from scratch
  • Running an accelerator, program or membership
  • Organising events and connecting people
  • Working at a co-working space
  • Launching an app and want to build a community around it
  • Starting your first or looking for your next community-focused role

Apply anyway as we read every application and respond to them with the outcome.

You can also attend our Info Session to learn more and ask us any questions. Or email us with your specific question at hello@thecommunitycollective.co.

Whilst we'd love to accept everyone, we review each application and accept them based on whether they are actively building or managing a community or not.

Everyone who joins the program will have access to book 1-1 coaching with our Cohort Coaches. This is a great opportunity to chat 1-1 with our Coaches about a specific challenge or question you have.

Each 60min coaching session is $200 AUD and you can book as many as you like with whichever coach you like. Coaching runs all year round between Mon - Fri 8am - 8pm AEST and can be booked during and after the program.

You book the times that work best for you. It's also up to you to come prepared with specific questions to ask our coaches.

If you enrol in the Live Cohort & Coaching Package, you have 2 x sessions included already, so there will be no additional cost.

Our Cohort Coaches are:

  • Tim Duggan: Author @ Cult Status & Killer Thinking, Co-Founder @ Junkee Media
  • Yana Belova: Education Community Manager @ Canva, Advisor @ Miro, Chapter Host @ CMX
  • Ben Davies: Community Manager @ Smokeball, Ex Community Manager @ Dovetail & Canva

And if that means binge watching all the recordings, asking questions in Slack, booking coaching and checking in with your Accountability Buddies - then that's great.

As much as we'd love to host sessions in all locations, we too have limits! However, if we have more than 8 people join from one city, then we are open to co-organising extra in person sessions.

Plus you'll be able to see who joins from where and connect with them in Slack, meaning you're welcome to organise your own catch ups too.

Not at all! If you can get there then you are welcome to join. What a great excuse to travel hey!

You will have access to our Cohort Portal and Slack for the 8-week program and 3-months after the program end date.

We are all about integrating into your life, not taking it over! The break gives you time and space to consolidate what you have learned and catch up on anything you've missed, whilst coming back fresh to make the most of the last 3 weeks.

We will run 2 more Cohorts next year.

Yes. Life can be tough! We believe in making this as accessible as possible to anyone experiencing financial hardship.

You can apply to be considered for a Scholarship by submit the Scholarship Application here in addition to your Cohort Application before 2 August @ 12pm.

We prioritise those from disadvantaged groups or those living with a disability.

Yes! All alumni from our previous Cohorts are welcome to rejoin through our new Alumni Pass. Simply order your Alumni Pass here and you will be instantly accepted into the program.

Why rejoin? This is your chance to up-skill once again, connect with the more community builders, access the new portal, learn from our new speakers, book 1-1 coaching, support the new Cohort of community builders, extend your Slack access and continue browsing the content library resources. We'd love to welcome you once again.

Yes! You can download it here.

Great question. You can read about our past Cohorts via the articles written by our Alumni here.

1. You are actively managing a community for a business or clear purpose

2. If you are not actively managing one, you have at least 10 people interested in joining your new community and are approximately 1 month away from launching it

3. You uphold the behaviour outlined in our Community Guidelines

4. You have a wifi connection

We do not accept those who are not actively building or managing communities to ensure that we are serving our primary members, active community builders.

If you are unsure if you fit this criteria, apply anyway and we can let you know.
